Important changes to CHOICES starting January 1, 2011

The CHOICES program has been simplified to enable employers to receive rebates as a credit on their assessment premiums.

To enrol, an employer simply checks a box on the annual Employer Payroll Return (EPR).

If an employer is COR or SECOR certified, the employer is entitled to receive a 10% discount on their assessments.

Non-certified employers can obtain rebates ranging from 4% to 6% once they show, through a third party provider, that they have complied with the number of work-related safety and/or return to work training hours required for their industry.

Check the rate tables below to find your industry group and the number of hours required to obtain a rebate.

The minimum rebate is $75 and the maximum amount is $25,000.

To receive a CHOICES rebate, an employer must be in good standing with their assessment account and cannot have any outstanding penalties, orders or payments.

In the first year of the modified CHOICES program, employers who are currently enrolled may still be rewarded as outlined in the original program.

The power point presentation at the bottom of this page provides more information about this program.

Questions about the program should be directed to the YWCHSB CHOICES coordinator at (867) 667-5659 or call toll free 1-800-661-0443.

Investments made in occupational health and safety and/or return to work training leads to practices that create safe and healthy workplaces.

Fewer injuries and lower associated costs lead to lower assessment rates.
