INJURY / ACCIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM
An injury / accident reporting system is important to have in place so that everyone – especially new and seasonal workers – know who (and when) they should tell if they get injured. Sometimes workers get injured and the employers don’t hear about it until the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board contacts them.
The employer wants to hear about an injury as soon as possible so they can:
- get the worker to medical attention, if needed;
- arrange a replacement for the worker’s tasks;
- make sure that nobody else gets hurt from the same hazard;
- start a Return-To-Work plan;
- meet legal requirements by submitting an Injury / Illness Report form.
