Safety Leaders
There are currently 31 Yukon businesses that are safety leaders in the construction industry and other firms working toward the same goal. They have completed the Occupational Health and Safety’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) or Small Empolyer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR) Program.
The COR/SECOR programs helps businesses understand acts and regulations, as well as employer/worker rights and responsibilities. By participating in the COR/SECOR programs, employers and workers recognize that injury prevention must be an integral part of their business conduct and daily working routine.
The COR/SECOR program is a partnership between Northern Safety Network Yukon (NSNY) and the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board.
The COR Process:
| Step 1 |
Fill out the COR registration form (13kB PDF) and fax it to NSNY at 867-633-6391 |
| Step 2 |
At least one full-time employee will have to complete these 4 COR courses over 6 days of training;
Principles of Health & Safety Management
Auditor Training
Leadership for Safety Excellence
Train-the-trainer |
| Step 3 |
Once your safety program is ready, the person who completed the auditor training, submits an internal audit to NSNY. Once certified, an external audit is requested. |
| Step 4 |
Once the external audit is completed it is submitted to NSNY for review. |
| Step 5 |
NSNY then requests certification for the firm from the YWCHSB. |
