What if I believe my employer hasn’t done enough to protect me from H1N1 at work?

As with any health and safety concerns at work, talk to your supervisor or employer if you feel that more needs to be done to address those concerns.

Many concerns can be addressed simply by talking about them and learning more about what has been done to deal with a hazard.

In other cases, the discussion can lead to new or improved solutions that work for everybody.

If no resolution can be found, call Occupational Health and Safety at (867) 667-5450 or 1-800-661-0443.

OH&S staff will ask some questions over the phone and may offer other solutions.

If that fails, a Safety Officer will come to the workplace and may recommend additional things that can be done or alternately, say that all reasonable steps have been taken for the protection of workers.

Keep in mind that during the flu season it may take some time before a Safety Officer can get to your worksite, depending on current workloads.
