"Minor" Injuries
What are they?
Injuries and illnesses that do not require medical attention off the jobsite or injury and illnesses that do not require time off work beyond the day of injury.
If I receive a "minor" injury in the workplace what should I do?
First aid treatment in the workplace may provide immediate care for the injury. A Safety Officer or First Aid Attendant should note the injury details in their log book.
Notify your employer or your supervisor about the injury and how it occurred. This will assist in correcting the situation or piece of equipment, which may have contributed to the cause of the injury.
Too often, workers adopt the approach of ignoring proper treatment for minor injuries and work through the pain until its initial effects have eased.
However, the cumulative effects over the years, for workplace "minor" injuries, and/or repetitive strains could lead to long-term health issues.
The employer must keep a written record of "minor" injuries. This documentation puts YWCHSB in a position to consider compensation benefits if required in the future. Click onto the links below for appropriate reporting form;
