Workers’ Rights
Workers have the right to a safe working environment.
Workers have the right to know:
- about health and safety hazards
- how to protect themselves from workplace hazards
- how to perform their job safely
Workers have the right to participate:
- in workplace health and safety programs
- in selecting health and safety representatives or committee members
- on a health and safety committee
- in identifying health and safety concerns and making recommendations to supervisors, safety representatives or safety committee members
Workers have the right to refuse hazardous work where:
- the use of machinery or equipment poses an undue hazard
- a condition exists that poses an undue hazard
Workers must report the hazard to their supervisor, who will investigate and remove the hazard.
