Exemption from Yukon Government Management Board Directives

Effective Dates

March 7, 2005 - June 30, 2008

Policy Code

FN-01

General Information

The Yukon Government's Management Board Directives are policies that apply to all Yukon Government departments and deal with matters such as travel, office space, contracts, accounting policies, budgeting, and the establishment of staff positions.

In the past, the board was subject to the Yukon Government's Management Board Directives, however during the development of the Workers' Compensation Act S. Y. 1992 it became clear that the public desired greater independence of the board from the Yukon Government. Although the board did enjoy an arm's-length relationship from government, the fact that it continued to be subject to Management Board Directives was identified as a cause for concern.

As a result, the Act was changed so that the Yukon Government's Management Board Directives no longer applied to the board, unless Cabinet directed otherwise. To date, Cabinet has not directed that any of the Yukon Government's Management Board Directives apply to the board.

Purpose

The objective of this policy is to clarify how the board will make use of the Yukon Government's Management Board Directives.
