Annual community barbeque celebrates North American Occupational Safety and Health week

WHITEHORSE:  To celebrate North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week, Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) is hosting its annual Partners in Safety Barbeque and Outdoor Trade Show on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The event celebrates safety throughout Yukon workplaces with a free community barbeque, safety demonstrations and engaging outreach booths.

WSCB invites you to join our partners at Shipyards Park. This year, the following organizations will be joining the celebration with displays and demonstrations:

  • Air North;
  • ATCO Electric;
  • Canadian Mental Health Association Yukon;
  • Department of Community Services, Government of Yukon;
  • Department of Environment, Government of Yukon;
  • Dimensions Tech Services;
  • Nordique Fire Protection;
  • Northern Safety Network Yukon;
  • Northwestel;
  • Yukon Chamber of Mines;
  • Yukon Federation of Labour;
  • Yukon Hospital Corporation; and
  • Yukon University.


The event runs from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Shipyards Park.

  • In 2017, WSCB hosted a pop-up barbeque for construction workers in the Whistlebend neighbourhood.
  • In 2018, the newly styled Partners in Safety Barbeque moved to Shipyards Park for the whole community.
  • In 2024, after a three-year hiatus, approximately 700 people attended the event.
  • North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week was first launched in June 1997, by an agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico.
