WSCB announces 2027 industry assessment rates
Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) announces the 2027 assessment rates, industry classifications and maximum annual earnings rates.
Assessment rates and industry classifications
Assessment rates for 2027 will decrease across all rate groups with no industry reclassifications.
The WSCB funding policy requires the board to maintain a funded position between 121 and 129 per cent of total liabilities. This is designed to keep employer rates stable, protect the Compensation Fund from catastrophic events, and provide benefits to injured workers both now and well into the future. At the end of 2025, the funded position was 156 per cent, up from 138 per cent at the end of 2024.
Today’s rate decrease, in combination with the $10 million rebate announced this spring, will help return the funded position to the target range.
Maximum annual earnings
The board announced that the maximum annual earnings rate for 2027 will be $111,580. Employers will receive an email outlining their specific rate details later this fall.
